Private Jet Traffic Hits Record Levels in December

Private jet flight activity reached record levels in December 2025, driven by strong holiday travel demand. Teterboro Airport in New Jersey and Van Nuys in Los Angeles both reported capacity constraints during peak periods.

By The Numbers

According to data from WingX Advance:

  • Total US private jet flights: 412,000 (+8.2% YoY)
  • Charter segment growth: +11.4%
  • Fractional segment growth: +6.8%
  • Peak day: December 22 with 18,400 flights

Regional Hotspots

Florida destinations saw particularly strong demand, with Palm Beach, Miami, and Naples airports reporting 15-20% increases over December 2024. Ski destinations including Aspen, Vail, and Jackson Hole also set records.

The surge created challenges at some airports. "We implemented ground stops on several occasions due to ramp congestion," reported a Teterboro operations manager. "Advance planning was essential for clients during the holiday rush."

Industry observers expect the strong momentum to continue into Q1 2026.
